~ Heard Around The Cooler ~ An Urbane Treasure Chest


This has been a year of transition for me and Hamptons Creative Group,and preparing for this “everything must go,” Mother of All Tag Sales event in mid-October was cathartic. Shedding the accumulated stuff of years with Adele O’Connell and
Jim Jahoda of  Move It Out kept us all atwitter here.
The things you “find” in the attic after years are amazing! It was like a treasure hunt. I found a box that I hadn’t seen since moving my mother’s things a few years ago. I rediscovered memorabilia and special mementos from my youth: my first Communion veil and announcement. My Sweet 16 corsage. An autograph book with silly poems and quips from my friends. I think that was a generational thing – my younger colleagues don’t have autograph books! It was good to remember, and also good to let go. For the few items that remain, we’re planning a “Final Liquidation” sale for the Thanksgiving weekend. See you there!

Our Mother of All Tag Sales confirmed for us that it takes patience, tolerance for change, perseverance and a whole lot of keeping the faith to write a success story. Special thanks to Adele and Jim at Move It Out for the success of our sale in October, and for bringing our focus back to the reason we were there. (Our attention always seemed to be captured by the next shiny object we’d find.) They walked us through the pricing process and helped us sift through a metaphorical ton of sand to find
the golden nuggets buried in the attic, under the beds, in boxes and hidden in
out of the way corners. They kept us on message – that the light at the end of
the tunnel was bright and would illuminate our future like the summer sun. They even partnered with a film crew to capture all the
happenings (photo above). Says Adele:

“We love our business – meeting great people like
Linda, who are downsizing, streamlining, or buying new homes. We’ve done sales
at everything from a Bridgehampton home with an indoor pool to an Easthampton
one-room cottage. We now have a great following coming primarily from word of
mouth referrals. We’re here to help and can’t wait for Linda’s Final Liquidation Sale of the odds and ends – and some amazing treasures – that remain.”

November 5, join us at Friday Night Jazz hosted by the Parrish Art Museum Business Council (Linda’s been a Steering Committee Member for over a dozen years and Hamptons Creative Group is a sponsor of the event). The fourth annual jazz-inspired networking event, features a live jazz performance by the Mike Ficco Jazz Quartet, blanc de blanc sparkling wine by Bedell Cellars, hors d’oeuvres by Thyme & Again, and a fantastic silent auction. Cookies, cider and a roaring fire greet bargain seekers at Linda’s
blow out, let’s sell everything and the kitchen sink sale (really, the kitchen sink and the house
can be yours, too!).This is a great time of year to see what the Hamptons has to offer – and what Linda’s eager to part with, at bargain prices.

Sprucing up the Town for the Holidays!

Linda’s on a variety of committees for the Southampton Village Merchant Association this year – she’ll be helping with lighting the area for the holidays and the annual wreath decorating contest (she won an award last year for her peace themed wreath). It’s fun for us to dress up the town and invite folks to share the warmth of the holiday season with us. Her late November is full preparing for the
December 4 All Day Stroll in and out of local shops, the Annual Parade of Lights & Tree Lighting
