Word of Mouth Daily – December 7, 2011

Got a Book? Why Not?

Want to turn the crisp pages of your freshly printed new book? You may be the only one. Not because people don’t want to read your writing…in fact, readership is up! However, printed paper books are being replaced by digital.

Many aspiring writers are simply unsure how to proceed in the digital publishing landscape.

That’s where Hamptons Creative Group can help you. In addition to our experience helping traditionally published authors, we’ve also helped authors realise their written efforts in other ways.

Whether it be Kindle or Nook, iPad or Android tablet, Hamptons Creative Group can get your book in the most popular digital devices.

Don’t let the term “self-published” lull you into the false belief that the process is easy to do by yourself. There are a lot of steps: proofing, formating for digital devices, copyright protections, securing an ISBN, and, oh yeah, marketing.

Unsure about what to write? You may benefit from a strategy session with a member of our extended collaborative community of experts.

When it comes to creating your book, you have no excuses! And remember, you don’t have to do it all yourself. Hamptons Creative Group is here to help. Start here

September ’11 Newsletter – Creative Thought Matters

Message from the Alchemist

Celebrity sightings in the Hamptons this summer have come fast and furious, almost like the hurricane we’re all cleaning up after!

At the annual Authors Night to benefit the venerable East Hampton Library, some 160 writers crowded in with avid readers, including Hamptons Creative Group’s success story Ren Dodson and Hampton Dog creator Lisa Hartman.

We saw Robert Kline, Nelson DeMille, Martin Amis and benefit chair Alec Baldwin. We talked to two hot prospects, too, each hard-working authors with new books on the market.

Christie BrinkleyThen we got our workout in with Christie Brinkley at the Wellness Center at Southampton Hospital. This event, hosted by Danskin, raised money for Ellen’s Run. Ellen’s Run supports women and families who suffer from breast cancer.

Christie looked great in her Danskin wear and we got quite a workout!

Beach Booty: Tips from Hamptons Creative Group

Follow up fast. The best time to follow up with someone you meet at a networking function, charity event or even standing in line for a latte, is directly after meeting them, while you’re still fresh in his or her mind. Never forget that networking is about building and maintaining relationships. You can go out and meet dozens of people, but what’s the point if you never keep in touch with them? Take the initiative and make the first move.

Struggling with using social media like LinkedIn to follow up? Let Hamptons Creative Group help you figure out how to use online networking tools to expand your brand influence.

Success Stories

This month’s success story is small business. Getting through both an earthquake and a hurricane recently, it’s a testament to those who plan ahead for the expected and unexpected. While no one foresaw the earthquake (though we all felt it) everyone seemed to have a plan for the hurricane. And while the effects were far reaching and quite serious in many cases, there’s no doubt that because of such extensive planning the worst was avoided.

As we spoke with our clients following the storm, it was clear that there were a many great things still on their minds. After some careful questions and some encouragement, we were able to help them regain focus and start planning once again. Marketing is a continuous process, so it’s ok to look for help from an outside group. You never know what great things you’ll uncover about yourself, your goals, and your success.

Word of Mouth – February 24, 2011

Guest Blog Post: David White and Connections

We asked David White of Weboptimiser to be our inaugural guest blogger this week. A brilliant, and no kidding, former rocket scientist, David’s turned his amazing brain to the world of search engine optimization and helping others ensure that their online marketing gets found.

We’re proud to know him and excited about the work Hamptons Creative Group and Weboptimiser will create together.

Here’s David’s take on making connections in our increasingly related planet.

Experiences

Well, conversations to me most often describe experiences and there is nothing better than real life experiences to draw upon for conversation. So I have a couple of recent experiences that occurred (and are re-occurring) from just the last few weeks.

It really is all about the experiences that you have in life that make the difference. I found myself in Orlando and I happened to have the experience of being in the audience of the Brian Tracy show, someone that I had long admired since I started my career in sales. He taught me, amongst other things, the principle of rapport.

Brian’s keynote presentation, his content, and message were as poignant as ever, and honed to the bone, perfect. I even managed to record snippets on my mobile phone. From that experience I created a very short video.

Connections

Well, would you know! I was invited from the audience to be interviewed by Brian. That interview is scheduled to be shown on broadcast television in the next few weeks. You fortunate readers get a sneak peek, below, of what I do and how I do it. But really, the attraction is Brian.

On getting home to the UK, I discovered I had been awarded a Golden Quill Award, to be given to me at the Best-Seller’s Summit and Awards Ceremony in New York City. That’s where I met Linda Miller-Zellner, a fellow award winner, great conversationalist and fellow Brian Tracy fan. And that’s how Linda and I connected. If I hadn’t connected with Brian Tracy, I would never have been asked to be a guest blogger for Hamptons Creative Group.

The Video

Arguably Brian’s the BEST guy in the world at helping you achieve your business goals faster than ever before. He is a best selling author too, like me. He has been doing what he does for years and years, like me, too. You can see him online, now, it’s free, no registration required and you will see me giving away 101 ideas to bring traffic to your website.

(Click the image above to view the video or go here.)

We hope you’ve enjoyed David’s perspective and we thank him for contributing this week.

~Message from the Alchemist~

At Hamptons Creative Group, we always want to keep the conversation flowing. So we’re inviting guest bloggers to contribute to Word of Mouth once a month on topics they and we find important. As members of a global creative community, we want to connect everyone – to share ideas about branding, messages and marketing! What better way to do that than by opening our blog up to other voices and ideas?

Meet The Team

These voices and ideas will include the important members of the Hamptons Creative Group team, too. In case you haven’t visited our renovated web site yet, we’ve listed many of our collaborative community. Watch Word of Mouth for our first guest blogger post, coming soon.

~Heard Around The Cooler~

Welcome to a revamped section of the newsletter! Here, we’ll spotlight new members of Hamptons Water Cooler, the first Hamptons only online social network where businesses connect and conversation flows!

Lou Bortone and Alex Ferrone  are our featured members this month.

Alex Ferrone is a professional photographer specializing in aerial photography by helicopter. The results are an amazing marketing showcase for any commercial property, private estate, or residential home. She also does color and black & white representational scenics and
abstract photography.

Welcome Lou an d Alex! Join us on Hamptons Water Cooler as we gather ’round the cooler to share stories, promote events, post video and photos, chat, contribute tips, and build relationships. Stop by and give it a try!

~Beach Booty: Tips from Hamptons Creative Group~

Don’t wait until you need a network to build one. Networking is not something to do only when you need a new client or customer. It’s not something you can cram, buy or borrow the night before you need it, either. Networking must be a regular part of your life and activities. Just like friendships, the most authentic and meaningful professional relationships evolve naturally over time.

Need help finding places to network? Let Hamptons Creative Group suggest ways for you to connect – in person or online – to build your network.

~Success Stories~

This month, we celebrate Linda’s success in connecting Hampton Creative Group’s clients to their audiences! As part of this success, we’re proud to be creating the Facebook fan page for Peconic Public Broadcasting. This local NPR station needed help venturing online to connect with their community of listeners and followers. Linda has known Eclectic Café radio host Bonnie Grice and station manager Wally Smith for years. This community minded group does so much for the area, and Linda has supported the station for years. She even answered phones during last summer’s pledge drive.

So when Bonnie invited Linda to talk about her new book on the show last week, Linda was delighted to invite another local author, Ren Dodson, to join her. Bonnie highlighted Linda’s book and Hamptons Creative Group’s work to spread the word about Rens’ writing, too. Making connections between our vast network of collaborative friends and community – it’s what Hamptons Creative Group is all about.

You’ll recall from our last newsletter that Hamptons Creative Group was offering Marketing Makeovers to help businesses make a splash in 2011. We started delivering those Marketing Makeovers in January to eager and excited clients looking to benefit from a customized blueprint or success.

While the Marketing Makeovers do arrive in beautiful blue binders, clients also receive a one-on-one session with Hamptons Creative Group to discuss their binder’s contents, including the calendars, research, and measurement tools. Here’s what one Marketing Makeover client had to say:

“I got a Marketing Makeover from Hamptons Creative Group and I’m thrilled to be working with them to punch up my brand. The makeover gave me concrete ideas and ways to get my name out to my ideal clients, to position myself as an expert in intellectual property, trademark and copyright law, and to enter the world of online webinars. I’m excited about the new possibilities.”
Kathryn Dalli, Attorney at Law, Partner at Twomey, Latham, Shea, Kelley, Dubin & Quartararo, LLP

recipients have in common?

Newsletter- December 2010

~ Heard Around The Cooler ~

You know we’re all about making a splash at Hamptons
Creative Group, right? Right! We love trying new and creative ideas, and just
did – a never-before tried creative marketing strategy for selling a house in a down market.

We invited 12 local real estate agents and brokers to an intimate fireside chat with Mark Matthews, the architect of Linda’s house. The home has fondly taken on the name Pied-a-Mer, French for Place by the Sea. The fire was roaring and the well-known
designer of the unique abode discussed its forward thinking features, why the house is special and why real estate professionals (the ones who bring potential buyers to look at it) should play up those distinctions. This special home features a septic system that could sustain a small country and hurricane watch windows. You could
throw a 2 x 4 at 150 miles per hour at the windows and they’d hold!

Pied-a-Mer is a small home with a big feel and a big heart.
It was Linda’s dream project at the time, which incorporated a plan to sell eventually. The response was amazing, and we’re keeping our fingers crossed for a quick sale!

WORD OF MOUTH FROM HAMPTONS CREATIVE

I’m An Author!Ignite Your Business. Transform Your World
Many of you know that I was involved with publishing for many years – my brother Jim and I owned Miller Publishing. Well over the last 6 months, I have been working on a book with some of the top conscious entrepreneurs from across the globe.

In the process of writing this book, we all agreed to reveal our top secrets that consistently allow us to grow ourselves and our businesses—even in the New Economy. It was tough to get some to agree, but the only way we were going to do this was if everyone was held to the same code: share the best secrets you’ve got. The result? Our new book, “Ignite Your Business, Transform Your World!” is coming out TODAY. The book is chock full of business building and transformation strategies from me and some of the leading experts in the world.

As you read this, I’m celebrating the book’s release at the Best-Seller’s Summit and Awards Ceremony in New York City. In a moment, I’ll have the honor of accepting my first ever Golden Quill Award for my contribution.

For two days, we’ll be hearing from amazing speakers like Lifetime Achievement Award winner Michael Gerber, the author of the international best-seller, The E-Myth. He’ll be talking to us about the new direction for entrepreneurs. Exciting!

More than 15 business, marketing and social media thought leaders will share the best of what they know to help us understand the future of business and new economy. We’re especially looking forward to hearing about the convergence of traditional and new media, and mobile marketing, since we’re diving right in to this intriguing new way to get our message out.

Thanks to Celebrity Press Publishing, we’ve also got a
book signing scheduled and interview session that will be caught entirely on film, so you know that I will be sharing that video with you in the future.

Since the festivities take place in the heart of the publishing district in Times Square, I will finally get to see my name in lights, literally! I know it sounds corny, but it’s a huge honor.
So wish me luck that I don’t trip over my high heels at the awards ceremony, and that my pens don’t run out of ink at the summit! I’ll have lots more to report, including what I learned from the speakers. And of course, I’ll share it all with you!

At Hamptons Creative Group, we use every tool in our tool kit to tell your success stories every day.
